Orange orchard in November,

From the 2027 season, every grower lot will be tested by an accredited laboratory before it ships. This page shows what is tested, the release rule, and the laboratories and rules behind it.

What every lot will be tested for

Laboratory tests by product: "yes" means that every lot of the product will be tested for it.

Notifications on Egyptian herbs, seed spices, groundnuts and onions in the EU alert system, 2020 to 2026

Notifications in the EU Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF) with Egypt as the country of origin, counted per product from the public database on 16 October 2026; the newest record was validated on 2 October 2026. They are counts of notifications, not of lots shipped, and they describe the origin as a whole, not any one supplier.

None of these notifications concerns a lot of Desert Bounty: the company has not shipped yet.

Notifications per product and year, and where the problem was found: at the EU border, by official market controls inside the EU, or by a company's own check.

12 of the notifications name no hazard in the structured record (for example a document issue); they count in the first table only.

A test covers a hazard within the laboratory's accredited scope and quantification limits, which the lot report states.

93 of the 282 notifications on these products arose after the goods were inside the EU, 49 of them from a company's own check. From the 2027 season the four tests on every lot will cover the hazards marked in the second table.

The release rule

A lot is released only if every pesticide residue is within the EU maximum residue level (MRL) and nothing banned in the EU is detected.

Our laboratory

The laboratory for the 2027 season will be named here once it is agreed in writing. Status as of 20 October 2026.

Our supplier's packhouse

Our supplier's packhouse in Fayoum is a registered, licensed facility, inspected by Egypt's National Food Safety Authority (NFSA) and certified to ISO 22000:2018 and ISO 9001:2015 for the processing and packaging of herbs, seeds and spices.

From the 2027 season, processing for the EU market will be carried out at an IFS- or BRCGS-certified plant.

Accredited food laboratories in Egypt

The four test columns say whether the laboratory's published scope covers the test: yes, no or not stated.

Reference list. The laboratories below are accredited in Egypt for food testing, as published by the national accreditation body on 6 October 2026. A listing does not mean that Desert Bounty has a contract with the laboratory. Each lot report will name the laboratory that tested the lot.
